Umbra for Solo Euphonium and Piano (2006) ~ 2.5 Minutes
An example of an Umbra is a shadow cast by solar or lunar eclipses. These creep around the ground as the two celestial bodies pass one another. The Center of this moving shade is the darkest, as there isn't much light reflecting off the sides of the moon. This piece explores the idea of watching this darkness enveloping the area and eventually dissipating, leaving the place as if there had been daylight for hours.
