Sinfonietta For Trombones - “Uncommon Hero” (2025) - ~7 Minutes

Subtitled “Uncommon Hero,” this work follows a steadfast yet unconventional figure whose journey unfolds across three distinct movements.

I. The opening begins with a dramatic introduction before launching into a driving, funky groove. This rhythm becomes the defining sound of our unlikely hero—bold, quirky, and off the beaten path. Alternating with through-composed passages, the music highlights the contrast between tradition and individuality, providing a portrait of someone who refuses to conform to expectations.

II. In the second movement, the tone shifts inward. The hero stands at the threshold of their greatest trial, wrestling with doubt and insecurity. The music unfolds like a prayer, quietly searching for strength and resolve. Gradually, the lines gain momentum and confidence, culminating in a final phrase that radiates assurance—our hero emerges fortified and prepared to face what lies ahead.

III. The final movement thrusts us directly into conflict. A dramatic battle ensues, full of struggle, determination, and raw energy. After a decisive victory, the music transitions into a jubilant homecoming. Here, the hero is greeted with triumph and celebration—fanfare and bright harmonies provide a rousing conclusion to this journey of courage and resilience.
